Carolyn Wilson is a mixed media artist who is mainly interested in exploring texture, and specializes in collage using watercolor, rice paper and found elements. She records and interprets her life, travels and interests, and enjoys hiding hidden words or symbols in her work, surprises to be discovered upon close examination. She experiments with different subjects, combinations of media and is not afraid to try new techniques. Her work interestingly combines both spontaneity and control, and a sophisticated sense of color.
Carolyn was born and raised in England, has a BS in Geography, and immigrated to the USA when she was in her mid-twenties. She has been an artist for 20+ years and now lives in Sebastopol. Carolyn has participated in the prestigious Sonoma County Art Trails since 2014, and her work is available at Upstairs Art Gallery in Healdsburg.
Paintings by Carolyn have been published in 2 books: The Encyclopedia of Watercolour Techniques by Hazel Harrison (2018) and The New Encyclopedia of Watercolor Techniques by Hazel Harrison (2010)
